O Astigmatismo é uma deficiência visual, causada pelo formato irregular da córnea ou do cristalino formando uma imagem em vários focos que se encontram em eixos diferenciados. Uma córnea normal é redonda e lisa. Nos casos de astigmatismo, a curvatura da córnea é mais ovalada, como uma bola de futebol americano. Este desajuste faz com que a luz se refracte por vários pontos da retina em vez de se focar em apenas um. Para as pessoas que sofrem de astigmatismo, todos os objetos próximos e longes ficam distorcidos. As imagens ficam embaçadas porque alguns dos raios de luz são focalizados e outros não. A sensação é parecida com a distorção produzida por um pedaço de vidro ondulado. O astigmatismo é hereditário e pode ocorrer em conjunto com a miopia, hipermetropia ou presbiopia. Pessoas que sofrem de astigmatismo podem corrigir sua visão com o uso de uma lente oftálmica chamada tórica ou cilindrica (que faz com que os raios de luz se concentrem em um plano único), em óculos ou lentes de contato. Podem, ainda, se valer de cirurgia a laser ou do procedimento conhecido como ceratotomia astigmática.

Over time, gallstones form within the gallbladder, blocking the cystic duct, and causing the gallbladder to become enlarged and inflamed. The procedure, sometimes called a "lap-chole", begins with the insertion of four trocar devices, which allow the physician to see inside the abdomen without making a large incision. Air is added to the abdominal cavity to make it easier to see the gall bladder. Next, we see a view through the laparascope, showing two surgical instruments grasping the gallbladder while a third severs the cystic duct. After the gallbladder is removed, the camera pans around to show that the cystic artery and vein, have already been clipped to prevent bleeding. ANCE00181
