Gallbladder Surgery for Gallstones
http://www.nucleusinc.com/medical-animation This 3D medical animation shows minimally invasive gallbladder surgery, or cholecystectomy, using a laparoscope to remove gallstones. The animation begins by showing the normal anatomy of the liver and gallbladder. Over time, gallstones form within the gallbladder, blocking the cystic duct, and causing the gallbladder to become enlarged and inflamed. The procedure, sometimes called a "lap-chole", begins with the insertion of four trocar devices, which allow the physician to see inside the abdomen without making a large incision. Air is added to the abdominal cavity to make it easier to see the gall bladder. Next, we see a view through the laparascope, showing two surgical instruments grasping the gallbladder while a third severs the cystic duct. After the gallbladder is removed, the camera pans around to show that the cystic artery and vein, have already been clipped to prevent bleeding. ANCE00181Category: Film

@nucleusanimation ...
@nucleusanimation Not a problem. Glad to help wherever I can. Here's a little additional info/advice. First, find a well-respected surgeon to do the surgery, mine was referred to me by the ER doctor who I had at the time (he'd had to have his taken out a few years prior by the same surgeon). A good surgeon makes all the difference in how the surgery is performed, and how quickly one recovers, so choose wisely. I feel like I got very lucky, considering the circumstances. Hope this helps :)

I had this surgery ...
I had this surgery just over a week ago and am recovering fast with minimal bruising and pain. I was also lucky enough to get a really excellent surgeon (If you're in Portland Oregon, or nearby, Patrick M. Lehti, MD.) He is a really nice guy, who will answer all your questions before the surgery. I went home only a few hours after the surgery. It took me a few days to feel like I could sit up without a little difficulty by myself; but after that bit of trouble, I feel good. Hope this helps :)

I had this surgery ...
I had this surgery about 9 yrs ago while 4 mts pregnant with my 3rd child. Worst surgery I've ever had. I was sent home just a few hours after surgery and given Tylenol with codeine for pain. I bruised heavily from the incision points so that my entire tummy was one large bruise. I couldnt get up or lay down or sit by myself for days. Ive had extreme diarrhea ever since the operation. 15 mins after eating Im running to the bathroom. I wonder sometimes if the pain of the stones wasnt easier.

I had surgery about ...
I had surgery about 5 years ago. I still have to be careful with some food like to much cream and very high fat food. Other than that I don't get pains when I eat now. I feel free to eat near enough what I want to eat. After about 4-6months after surgery you should know then what you can eat and what you can't good luck to you all. Take it easy in the first 3 months. Take care. Good Luck

@SarahFanSocks I think mines passed down genetically so I'm blaming my auntie and whoever gave her them, the pains arent coming too often now but when they do the pains are horrendous, there's no words to describe them, and i've only been put on prescription for minor painkillers and they don't help-.-

@poppylove1900 I'm only 20 and my family says it's my fault because I'm fat (which I'm not). Just think that the pain will finally be gone. I know how much it hurts.

I finally went to the ER after having 5 gallbladder attacks because I'm a stubborn idiot. I'm having mine removed next week. My family blames the gallstones on my being fat (which I'm not). Whatever, I just want this thing out. It hurts so bad.

Had this surgery ...
Had this surgery done in March, and am very happy with the results. Even though I have other health problems which could have complicated the surgery, it went very smoothly. I walked out of the outpatient surgery ward 5 hours after I walked in. Went to bed, took my pain meds and ice pack, and did just fine. Needed only the ice pack for the next few days. Feels great to be able to eat what I want without pain!

I had a few pancreatitis before I choose to wait the necessary 8 hours at the emergency... After an ultrasound they found the stones blocked the pancreatic enzymes. I was 3 days in the hospital and have this surgery scheduled Wednesday morning. Very informative. I compared the pancreatitis pain to my labor contractions... Horrific... I had an emergency c section surgeries stress me less... I know itll be worth it in the end...
